Initiatives

Safetytech Accelerator drives innovation to make industries safer, cleaner, and more sustainable. Through industry initiatives like CFLII and MAMII, we bring together technology innovators, shipping leaders, and maritime stakeholders to trial, validate, and scale solutions that tackle the sector’s most pressing safety and environmental challenges.

Prevent Cargo Fires. Protect Lives, Cargo, and the Environment.

The Cargo Fire & Loss Innovation Initiative (CFLII) is the world’s only collaborative innovation programme dedicated to solving cargo fire and loss in shipping. CFLII runs hands-on technology trials, applies lessons from other industries, and accelerates the adoption of proven safety solutions into real-world use – without the risk, cost, or delay of going it alone.

Launched in February 2023 by Safetytech Accelerator, CFLII unites industry leaders, technology innovators, and maritime stakeholders to advance technologies that prevent and mitigate large-scale cargo fire, loss, and damage at sea. With a focus on enhancing shipping’s reputation as a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible link in the global supply chain, CFLII includes leading shipping companies representing around 50% of global container capacity, along with major maritime insurers, as its Anchor Partners.

Anchor Partners Include:

Evergreen, Lloyd’s Register, Maersk, Ocean Network Express, Offen Group, Seaspan Corporation, TT-Club, UK P&I Club

Measure Methane. Mitigate Emissions. Accelerate Maritime Decarbonisation.

The Methane Abatement in Maritime Innovation Initiative (MAMII), led by Safetytech Accelerator, is a cross-industry collaboration identifying, accelerating, and advocating technology solutions to measure and abate methane emissions on LNG-fuelled vessels.

MAMII brings together ship operators, fuel suppliers, engine manufacturers, technology providers, and academic and research partners to apply scientific insight and cutting-edge technology to a shared challenge: delivering accurate measurement, effective abatement, and scalable impact across the maritime LNG value chain.

Its role is practical and evidence-based. MAMII analyses the technology landscape, assesses emerging solutions to build the evidence base needed to reduce uncertainty and enable scalable deployment. It also provides a collective industry voice to help ensure methane regulation is practical, implementable, and rewards verified emissions reductions.

Launched in September 2022, the initiative brings together a broad and growing network of Anchor Partners and represents one of the most significant global collaborations focused on methane emissions in maritime.

Anchor Partners Include:
